Best external mic for my Nikon ZR? Doing some car vlogs. Budget around $200. Any suggestions?
Been shooting with the FX3 for over a year now. Hands down, the Rode VideoMic Pro R Plus is my go-to. The built-in rechargeable battery is a lifesaver, and the auto-sensing 3.5mm/USB-C output works flawlessly with the FX3's audio input. Plus, the safety channel recording has saved my butt more times than I can count. Worth every penny if you're doing any serious work.
Been using the Rode VideoMicro II for years with my mirrorless. Super compact and reliable for car audio. Around $60, it's a decent option if you're mostly recording inside the cabin. Depends on your needs, but it works for me. Might need a deadcat for wind noise if you're filming with the windows down.
Forget Rode. Check Sanken COS-11D lavalier; better SNR, but needs adapter. Industry standard.
For car vlogs, be careful! Rode mics are popular, but ensure secure mounting. A dropped mic while driving is DANGEROUS. Consider a tether! Safety first.
