I recently purchased the Canon R5C and am looking for a high-quality monitor to get the most out of this camera, especially for video work.

What monitors have you found pair best with the R5C for getting stellar video quality? I'd appreciate any recommendations for the ideal R5C monitor setup. Thanks!

SmallHD CINE 5 and CINE 7 are good choices for EOS R5C.

@declan_vasquez Yes, CINE 7 is a great monitor, only it is a bit expensive.

SmallHD Indie 7 is a good choice for EOS R5C.

> I've been using the Portkeys BM5 III WR with my R5C, and it's been a great combo. Building on the earlier suggestion, the Portkeys is definitely sweet for the camera control, but honestly, it's still a bit of a splurge if you just spent your life savings on the camera itself. Looking at the thread so far, there's a ton of love for high-end SmallHD and Atomos stuff, which makes sense for pro sets. Over the years, I've tried many different setups and found that you don't always need to spend a fortune to get a usable image. For instance, the FeelWorld LUT7 7 Inch 2200nit is a total workhorse for the price. It's bright enough to burn your retinas and handles 4K signals without a hitch. The colors won't beat a CINE 7, but for focus pulling? It's more than enough. If you want something smaller, the Desview R6 UHB 5.5 Inch 2800nits is another budget gem. It's light, which helps with the mounting stress hneepkvpew was worried about, and it's stupidly bright. The build quality feels a bit like a toy compared to the SmallHD Indie 7, but for literal fractions of the cost, it's hard to complain. Just grab a decent cage for the R5 C and you're good to go.

To add to the point above: be really careful about how you actually mount the monitor to your R5C. When I first got my current setup, I was so excited about the bigger screen that I didnt even think about the stress on the camera frame. I actually had a close call where the monitor mount started wobbling and I thought the whole top of the rig was gonna snap off. It was kinda terrifying tbh. I would suggest making sure to invest in a solid cage or at least a very sturdy cold shoe mount before you start using it full time. These cameras are super light but once you add a battery and a screen, things get top-heavy fast. Also, be careful with the hdmi cable... mine almost got snagged and could have ruined the port. Honestly, just my experience but I'd prioritize safety and cable management over the specs of the screen itself. You dont want to break your new camera just to see the image better.

I've been using the Portkeys BM5 III WR with my R5C, and it's been a great combo. It's a 5.5-inch touchscreen monitor with 2200 nits brightness. What I love about it is the built-in wireless control for the R5C - you can change camera settings directly from the monitor. It also supports 3D LUTs and has a bunch of monitoring tools like waveform and vectorscope.
