Hey everyone! Just upgraded to the Canon R6 Mark III and I'm trying to figure out the *best* lens to pair with it right now. I'm mainly shooting travel photography and portraits, and I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the RF options. What's the go-to lens that really shines with this body for those genres?

For travel and portraits, the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is a highly versatile choice. It offers a broad focal range suitable for various scenarios and features image stabilization, complementing the R6 Mark II's in-body stabilization for sharp results.

honestly I was pretty disappointed with the 24-105mm for portraits. the bokeh is just kinda busy and the f/4 aperture had issues with low light in my tests. just didnt feel as premium as I wanted for the new body. quick question tho, are you mostly shooting wide environmental shots or tight headshots? knowing that would really help narrow down the optical specs you need. you'd probably find the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM way more satisfying for travel, even if it's heavier. it's around $2,300 but the sharpness is miles better. for portraits specifically, the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM is technically the king, though it's literally a brick to carry. even the cheaper Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM is a solid travel pick, but the autofocus is not as quiet as the L series. lmk what you think about focal lengths and i can check some more data for you.
