So I finally pulled the trigger on the Avata 2 fly more combo after flying custom 5 inch quads for like forever and honestly the little thing is a blast but the soft bag it comes with is just not gonna cut it for my upcoming trip to Iceland. Im leaving in three weeks and Im super paranoid about the Goggles 3 lenses getting scratched or the frame getting crushed in my checked luggage because you know how airline staff treat bags lol. Ive always used Pelican cases for my bigger gear but Im looking for something more form-fitting and specifically designed for the Avata 2 layout so I dont have to pluck foam for five hours straight.
I need something that can take a beating and keep the moisture out since Ill be hiking near waterfalls and stuff. Here is what Im looking for specifically:
Does anyone have hands-on experience with the GPC or maybe the Nanuk cases yet? I saw a few random brands on Amazon but they look kinda flimsy and I dont want to risk a $1k setup on cheap plastic...
Honestly, ignore the cheap Amazon clones. They leak. Ive handled both GPC and Nanuk for my fleet and they are basically the only ones I trust for checked luggage or wet environments like Iceland. The GPC DJI Avata 2 Hard Case IP67 is solid because the foam is water-jet cut specifically for the Fly More kit plus the standard remote. It is a tight fit, nothing rattles, and the foam wont flake over time like the cheap stuff. GPC foam is generally a bit denser too. The Nanuk 915 DJI Avata 2 Waterproof Hard Case is my pick if you care about the latches. Those PowerClaw locks are way better than GPC standard ones, especially if you have cold hands. Both are IP67 and will survive the baggage handlers. TL;DR: GPC for the best internal layout, Nanuk for the toughest exterior hardware and better latches.
