I'm diving into macro photography with my Nikon Z6 III and need some lens recommendations. Looking for something that can handle close-up work - insects, flowers, product shots, etc. I've heard good things about the Z MC 105mm but wondering about other options, including adapted F-mount lenses. Budget is around $600-1200. What macro lenses have you used successfully with the Z6 III? Any thoughts on magnification ratios and working distances? Thanks for the input!
The Nikon Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S is absolutely the go-to choice if you want native Z mount. The image quality is exceptional and the VR really helps with handheld macro work. Yes, it's pricey, but the sharpness and bokeh are incredible. I've been using it for about a year now and couldn't be happier.
If budget is a concern, you can also adapt some excellent F-mount options with the FTZ adapter. The old 105mm f/2.8G VR works beautifully on the Z6 III, and you can find used copies for much less than the new Z version.
Yep been there done that. Can confirm everything said above is spot on.
